About Eduba Press

In ancient Sumer, the é-dub-ba was the tablet house, the school where young scribes learned to press meaning into clay. It was the first institution built to preserve human knowledge. Every record, contract, hymn and epic that survives from the world's earliest civilization passed through a room like that one.

We named this press after it on purpose.

Publishing is an act of preservation. What we choose to print, bind and send into the world is a claim about what deserves to outlast the moment it was written in.

We publish books that argue back: books that ask the reader to do some of the work. Our Primary Source Series prints the founding record complete and uncommented, so readers can weigh the sources themselves. Our fiction takes the past seriously as drama, not backdrop. New lines will follow, chosen by the same test.

Eduba Press is an independent press, small by design. We don't publish quickly. We publish carefully.
